Tom Tortorich
Founder, Authentic Kansas City

In my prior career as a Web Developer/Programmer, I found myself with a front-row seat to the rise of social media and I noticed a diminishing sense of community. What work was being done to combat the growing tendency toward social isolation and digital addiction? Burned-out and feeling lonely, I left that career at age 35, and sought to answer that question. Authentic Relating International was one of several groups I found.

I've seen many people (including myself) profoundly transformed by developing a deeper sense of emotional intelligence, which, in turn, helps us build far richer relationships.

I truly believe that a more sensitive, emotionally aware, vulnerable world is a better place to live in. If we all slowed down more, lessened our reliance (addiction) to technology, and showed up for one another a little more, I believe that's a recipe for a better life.

Calling in others ... let's create a murmuration together! :)

Authentic Kansas City is the result of 6 years of research and first-hand experience.

We seek to offer weekly game nights as an opportunity for people to find a safe space offline to connect and have fun and meet new friends in real life.

We envision game nights hosted in a wider variety of locations, such as Yoga studios throughout the city, and facilitated by different teachers. If you are interested in being a facilitator for game nights, please let us know!

The deeper work happens in our 1-day and weekend-retreats. We've seen many people (including ourselves!) profoundly transformed by developing a deeper sense of emotional intelligence, which, in turn, helps us build far richer relationships. That experience happens most deeply in an immersion setting out in nature. An immersive experience has a ripple effect on our daily lives after we return.
